April: What is Grade Four studying?

ELA:

Module 3: The American Revolution

Module Summary: In Unit 3 of this module, students apply what they have learned about the American Revolution and colonial perspectives on the war to create broadsides persuading someone to be a Patriot or a Loyalist. Students read and analyze opinion writing to understand characteristics of the format and how authors support their opinions with reasons and evidence. 

Unit Tasks:

  • Analyze author’s opinion, reasons and evidence to determine perspective.
  • Students write and revise a broadside from the Loyalist perspective.

Eureka Math:

Module 5: Fraction Equivalence, Ordering, and Operations

Students will…

  • decompose fractions
  • use the area model to show fraction equivalence 
  • use visual models to add and subtraction fractions 
  • add and subtract mixed numbers 

Module 6: Decimal Fractions 

Students will…

  • use metric measurement
  • represent mixed numbers with units of tens, ones, and tenths 
  • use meters to model decomposition of one whole to hundredths 
  • use the area model and number line to represent mixed numbers with units of hundreds, tens, ones, tenths, and hundredths in expanded form 
  • use the place value chart and metric measurement to compare decimals 
  • compare and order mixed numbers

Homework is a crucial part of your child's active learning process and essential to their academic progress. Please make sure that all homework is completed daily.
